About BANKSETA
The Banking Sector Education and Training Authority is widely regarded as one of the best SETAs in South Africa. Successive years of unqualified audits confirm the BANKSETA’s commitment to carrying out its mandate in a professional and accountable manner.
BANKSETA is dedicated to developing skills in the banking and microfinance sector in terms of the Skills Development Act, No 97 of 1998, within the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS) framework. In carrying out its function, as what is laid down in the Act, BANKSETA’s mandate requires it to develop these skills by encouraging employers to use the workplace as an active learning environment and to provide employees with opportunities to acquire new skills. The BANKSETA works at increasing levels of investment in education and training so that work-seekers find work, retrenched workers re-enter the market and employers find qualified employees. Transformation forms the largest component of the BANKSETA’s mandate, guided by the NSDS equity targets of 85% black, 54% female and 4% disabled.
